Sheer poetry, Honky Tonk Hammer...both you and the song! Yessir, one of their best, IMO. How about another 2 second part: right after the opening, when Charlie absolutely POUNDS that poor drum and Mick sneers "YEAAHH". You know something awesome is comin', like a storm is threatenin'--the calm before the Stones storm. Heck no, don't give me any shelter from a Stones tsunami, just let it blow (or rock or bleed). And though I've sometimes been annoyed at the unnecessary addition of "outside-the-Stones" musicians, "Rocks Off" is one tune where the horn section actually kciks it into another gear. Actually, now that you've cyberslapped me into thinking about it, there's another part of the song that feels like a storms-a-threatenin': right after the delicious "feel so hypnotized.....feel so mesmerized" pseudo-dream sequence, whereupon the backup singers with their "woooooooo" and Charlie soundin' like he's trying to break lose just ROLL into the rest of he song....almost like the song's gonna end, with Mick singing softly and mysteriously, and then the band says "uh-uh"....."The sunshine bores the daylights outta meee..." and BOOM!, we're off on this blaring rollercoaster again.....Shoot, see what you done, Hammer? Now I've gotta go flip the switch and get me a Rocks Off fix. Sheesh, the things a Stone fan's gotta do.......Rock Onnnnnn....~Vacendak~
