: 1. Mick Jagger-agreed, of course.

: 2. Elvis Presley-How can you argue with the King...

Easy. He had two good years, 1956 and 1957. If he had died in a plane crash before he went to the army I might agree. But instead he went into a slow-motion nose-dive into kitsch and unconsciously horrifying self-parody. I'm afraid the 20 years of Vegas & bad movies removed him from the running for me.

: 3. David Bowie-yes, Dave is a big ol' rock star. But he doesn't make my top 3.

My list:

1. Mick Jagger. No explanation needed.

2. Keith Richards. The real deal. Born with a guitar in his hands and a butt hangin' outta his gob.

3. Brian Jones. Invented and perfected the art of rock stardom, including dying young. Rock Star #1 based his act on equal parts of rock star #2 and rock star #3.

I know this sounds like FPM just kissin' the Stones' collective ass as usual, but I would choose these three even if they were in three different groups. The fact that they all come from the same band is pretty amazing.
