You and I always seem to like the same kind of thing, for completely different reasons!

The Stones do need to experiment more - B2B was just mainly an experiment that lacked direction. But the next album needs to:

Explore the roots of American music. Maybe some hard core country and jump blues. The Stones went back in American musical history for Exile, Let It Bleed and Beggar's. Then they used the new studios and instruments that were available to them to do homage to the styles of music they were exploring. The Stones are at their best when they are interpreting American music, not the euro styles of B2B.

Use some interesting sidemen. How about Steve Earle? I'd like to hear Mick do something with Emmylou Harris. Or maybe let Buddy Guy sit in on a song where Keith sings. I like to hear them trying new things, but sometimes the old things with new people can really change the results. But no superstars, or fad superstars. (You'll never see Axl Rose or Slash on stage with the Stones again!)

For a few tracks, just five guys with minimal overdubs playing fast and loud.

But I hate Carlos Santana. Besides, he had his chance to impress the Stones. I'm glad he didn't.
