: :Let me close with this, what do you love about the songs on this album that I
: don't care for - Turd On The Run, Ventilator Blues, Just Want To See His Face, Let It Loose,
: Shine A Light (I know lots of you like this one) and Soul Survivor. I do like Exile, but I do not love
: it cause of these songs.

: I'm not a huge fan of the first three, I admit, and I don't know what to tell you if you don't like the last ones, but to me Exile is a one long continuous song. That's the best way I can describe it. I think it comes down to this: do you like your music refined and polished or hot and raw? Sticky Fingers is the former. Every song is awesome. But I give Exile the edge because that same rawness lends an emotion the music that no other Stones album has. Even though I know it didn't go down entirely this way, I can picture in my mind the Stones and all the singers, percussionists, etc. laying the tunes down like one big concert. Each time I listen to it I hear something new. I wish they'd do every album like that. Compare it with GHS. It has a lot of great songs, but it lacks the emotion entirely. The production is lifeless. One of my faves on there is Silver Train. There's an outtake of ST where it sounds remarkably like Exile does, good and muddied up. While the structure and playing are the same the outtake kicks the final album version's ass.

: I've always said it'd have been cool if the Stones had taken a cue from Pink Floyd and done Exile straight thru as one concert.

BTW, I got the McCartney album yesterday, and the above reasons are why it kicks ass. Pedal to the floor from start to finish, and you can feel the emotion, baby.
