I just pawed through "A Life on the Road" and for all its pix and chronicle of the band -- guess which tour is conspicuously missing!
That's right 1978 -- they have stuff on '69, '72, '75 and then they jump to '81. They have a series of pictures of the stages set-ups from '75, '81, '89, '94, and '97. No '78 (cause there was no set up probably!)
My point is -- the '78 tour was not a tour -- it was a series of half-assed concerts with the STones going thru the motions on an album that needed no tour. Keef was as close to "working for the state" as one can get and the whole thing was just one big after-thought.
I think the band is still in denial about the whole thing.
But -- I still wish my parents had let me go to Buffalo - July 4, 1978
