It was 10 years ago tonight that the Stones kicked off
the Steel Wheels tour in Philadelphia.

It had been 8 looooooooong years since their last US Tour.
Me and 60,000 friends were primed !!

After an interminable set by the wretched Living Colour, the Stones hit the ground running, restaking
their claim as the baddest motherfuckers there is.

What a show !!

The stage set was the best stadium rig I've ever seen,
before or since.

Some of the highlights:

A lump-in-the-throat inducing Ruby Tuesday, with
Keith on acoustic, braying along on the chorus.
Play With Fire
Dead Flowers - a favorite of mine
Midnight Rambler - nuff said
Happy - THE Keef song
A trippy (visually & musically) 2000 Light Years From Home >
Sympathy For The Devil - a backlit Jagger at the
top of the stage set, shouting it out - "YOW"
Gimme Shelter - feral

Even the set closing warhorses Brown Sugar, Satisfaction and JJF breathed fire.

I SAID YEAH !!!!!

Seems like yesterday...
