Sad to hear today about the passing of the Country Rocker Charlie Daniels. To those who felt he went from being a counter-culture figure, to a redneck, well you weren't really paying attention to who the dude was. Just because a person supports some right wing politics don't mean he turned into a redneck. He was still, as early as just 2 or 3 years ago, playing songs live like his self penned countercultural tunes “Long Haired Country Boy” and “Uneasy Rider” (two favorites of mine) and he also still covered anti-establishment Dylan numbers like “The Times They Are a-Changin” and “Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall”. He was just an all around good guy who played country songs that everybody liked to hear regardless if they leaned right or left. Many of us will miss him and his music.
