RE: Poll Post for the week starting Monday, July 8

Although the vote for the Rock VS poll is close, George has lead all week and this surprises me. Yes, and as I noted in the poll post, the biggest songs George wrote and recorded while still in the Beatles - are light years bigger and better than anything Tom ever wrote. But overall, Tom clearly wrote more hit singles and wrote more songs overall than George did. To me at least that stands out, but George leads in the voting, and again, I didn't expect to see that this late in the voting.

The Stones vote is going as I think everybody expected it to go this week, and I must say that I'll miss this long running series when it finishes up - and its ending gets a little closer in each passing week. But for me as the one who has to come up with a new Stones poll question each week (now for over 20 years), it takes care of itself in that department, as all I have to do is decide which match-up to run each week. If there was one weekly poll I'd love to keep running forever, it's this one, yet it's one poll that once it's over, that's it, repeats won't ever work here.

It's also interesting in looking at the total votes (so far) how this week, and last week too, the 4 polls are all so close in total votes cast. That does tend to happen in summer votes somewhat, and last week was a major holiday week in the U.S., too. As to what we are seeing so far, is some real close voting for about half the songs, while the other half are seeing little or no votes at all. It's the disco songs that are getting the most votes this week, and that doesn't surprise me, but Rev 9 is now making it's move towards the top spot and I got a feeling it will be on top before this is all over. But the Stones 2 disco songs are both receiving a lot of votes too (and this doesn't surprise me at all, and I voted for one of them myself). With the large number of Stones fans we have voting each week, had I only listed one of them, I think the Stones would for sure had taken this one (and one of them still might), as most Stones fans flat out hate disco songs. But then again, we do also have a lot of Beatle fans voting each week too, and the Paul McCartney solo disco song is pulling in as many votes as the Stones disco songs are, and I believe that this is actually why Rev 9 is not ahead in the vote at this moment. Then again, not all rock and Fab fans hated Rev 9, I always found it interesting myself, and while I voted for it as the most unusual Beatle song this week in that poll, I sure as shit didn't vote in it for this week's Rock poll, as there's no way for me that any disco song is better than any other kind of Rock song ever made. Heck, I could even vote for New Wave music - which I flat out hated, over most songs with a Disco beat. Yes, Rev 9 was weird indeed, but this week's question isn't asking that question, either.
