RE: the videos this week/Shine a light

Yeah i gave the two videos tens myself,...

The Stones video is a good one that takes a song I don't care too much about - and makes it better to a point, other than it totally forgot that half the boys in the band are full time members and not backup/session musicians, and most important, the only 2 instruments that stick out in the song - are falsely shown being played by band members who never played them in the song in real (studio) life. That I very much dislike, it isn't being honest at all! So for that reason it got a 8 rating from me and no 10, yet a 8 is actually still a high rating, since this vid makes me like the song more than I do when I see it, even if what's being shown is a total falsehood and most of the band member's aren't shown at all. The shot for this video should have been done in a totally different way, and I'm thinking now that it really didn't deserve more than a 6 rating tops. Too bad, since Michael Lindsay-Hogg is one of the great-grandfathers of rock videos, and otherwise put out several of the best and greatest videos for both the Beatles ( "Hey Jude", and "Revolution"), and Stones too (JJF and 2000 Light Years...), and was one of the first directors to start using videos to promote the 2 bands - or any bands for that matter!... not to mention the Beatles great film/real life movie that was actually a doc Let it Be, his directing also for the Stones' Rock n Roll Circus, and Simon and Garfunkel's The Concert in Central Park, too.

Yes, for the Fabs video, the Beatles performance for this video (really TV show spot) was a 10 for sure, and everybody knows it, other than the one person, the very same person, who votes a "zero" in every single Beatles video poll, week in and week out. I look at his vote in that poll as spam only, since he clearly isn't rating or watching the videos in question but instead is only saying "I hate the Beatles", but that isn't what our video poll question is asking.

On the deceased person poll: i had to vote for shine a light but fire and rain and in my life are such great songs

I almost voted for "Shine a Light", the only real nice nod that the Stones ever gave to Brian, but then again, in the beginning of the song, Mick's lyrics are very rude towards him, too, putting him down for being drunk too often and stating this:"Just seemed to be too many flies on you, I just can't brush them off". Just why was MJ okay with that when Keith did the very same things right after BJ died?, I never saw him write a song in that mold about Keith! But yes, other parts in the song were kind towards BJ too, with some of the parts written about him after he died and were rerecorded after his passing, plus at that time the song's title was changed. But still, the Stones recorded the song first with Brian playing slide guitar, when it was called "Get a Line On You", and you got to wonder if Brian knew the song was about him or not? I bet Mick didn't have the balls to say to him "Brian, this one is about you!".

So in the end I went with 'Empty Garden', Elton John's farewell song to John Lennon.
