Yeah, Townshend for one had to contend with a band of egomaniacs all wanting to be in the forefront, himself included. Entwistle was capable of playing to serve the song, most of the stuff on "Tommy" for example, but he's more of a lead player and would have been a mismatch with ole Ringo. Bonham was a great drummer, but more an off-the-deep-end player like Keith Moon. Moon is said to have fantasized about being the drummer for the Beach Boys, but in that particular seat he would have had to 4/4 & tone it down a bit.
