RE: pets...nsc

I like pets, but I was never a crazy pet lover myself, but my kids and grandkids are. But I can't handle the grief that comes after they die on you after just a few years, so after the last dog died, I said no more pets, period! But nobody in my family listens to me when it comes to pets. So my oldest grown daughter who still lives with me on and off, went and got us a kitten about 11, 12 years ago, and it was tragically killed just 3 weeks later - on accident by my then 6 year old grandson. He was so depressed over its loss (well, we all were) that all of our friends - including my internet Gassy friends from here, told us to go out get a new replacement cat asap, to ease his/our pain, so we did, about 2 days later, and to to his day, we still got old lazy bones Cheesey. Then there's the 9 year old family dog who's really my daughter's, so he lives both here and at her place depending on the week.... Like most families we've had other pets throughout the years, including ferrets, which I never cared for, but again, that same older daughter (and former Gasser, Jackie) always had/has a way with me and I would end up allowing her to keep every pet she would bring home. Only time that didn't hold true was when she was only about 10 years old and she walked into the house holding a half dead and run over squirrel with a broken back. Her mother just let out a scream of horror and the squirrel was out of the house real fast. It died shortly after that and Jack went buried it in the backyard and built a memorial for it, which she placed new flowers on for weeks to come afterwards. Yeah, she's a animal lover for sure!
