I also enjoy being alone and I like my own company - just not 24/7 365 days a year. Well that's a small exaggeration, this past 6/12 weeks at my coastal home, I've met a friend who lives here twice for lunch, had three nice conversations (a few weeks apart) with strangers by the ocean, and had a cup of tea with someone else for an hour. That's way more human contact than I have in the UK. I have no family, and go for weeks on end not talking to a soul. I've had friends, but friendships seem to have a shelf life - some last a couple of years, some 10 years, 20 years, 30 years - whatever it is, there does seem to be a point where for whatever reason the friendship ends. It has nothing to do with social skills.
