She claims a different story on that today of course on how she got her hands on my ticket, but I know the truth, and what she did (and she was already a teen by this time) was to con her preteen brother out of something that was priceless and that our dad wanted his kids to have, not some school friend of her's that he didn't even know.
Yet it was she who half helped to turn me into a hippie, too, but that was about it as far as the good things went, and of course my parents didn't think that being a hippie was such a good thing, either. They were from the WW2 generation and hated the long hair look on men and boys - and then the NY public schools in the mid to late 1960s didn't allow boys to have long hair. So one day when I was about 11 or 12 (in 6th grade), I come home from school one day and mom tells me that the school called and said I'm gonna be suspended if I didn't cut off my long hair, so I was forced to get a short haircut that weekend. Thing was my hair wasn't really that long - not going by today's standards, kinda like how the Beatles and Stones didn't really have long hair by today's standards in '64 and '65. But back then such hair styles on guys were considered "girly" looking by the elders, as boys weren't suppose to even have bangs covering their foreheads, which I had. The school officials wanted the 1950s short hair male look on all male students, and so I was forced to cut my hair shorter and I would have to look that way until about 1970 or so, when they dropped that stupid rule and then I didn't get another haircut for 2 years! So all of that BS shaped me for the kind of radical teen I became and I never totally stopped being as an adult.
