Not so. If you run a Google search using your question, this is what you get: With 20 number-one singles, the current most successful British act on the Billboard Hot 100 is the Beatles. They are followed by the Bee Gees, Elton John and Paul McCartney all of whom have had nine number-one singles on the chart.... George Michael and the Rolling Stones have both had eight number one singles. So you can't count both Wham and his solo work together, since they don't look at it in that way, Wham is looked at as a group and that's how they go about listing artists, and McCartney would kick his ass if you did look at it in that way.
But I never liked him at all either. BTW, the Bee Gees are considered Brits, even if they also lived in Australia, too.
