RE: RE: RE: celebrities (nsc)

Some damn good points made here on this thread, and wisdom such as "With that said, more time with my wife of 44 plus years, our sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren suffice for me. Way to go Double J! 👍

When someone's famous, people want to cling to them. But when they were nobodies, well......⬇️⬇️⬇️

—————–—————————

My family became friends with another family through our sons, schoolboy best friends. I even attended their boy's bar mitzvah.

The father, who's a few years older than me, is one of those people who just doesn't lie, nor even exaggerate about anything, and you just know what he says is 100% truthful. So I believe what he shared with me about how when he was a boy he once asked a famous home run hitting African-American baseball player for his autograph. The famous baseball player's reaction? -- He gave my friend, a little kid at the time, the finger.🖕

Okay my initial feelings after I heard this were of shock, and of sorrow for my friend. But after a few seconds, when the brain gets refocused, I knew what that was about. If this man, this big hero, weren't a famous athlete, but instead was just another, say, taxi driver, or factory worker, or dishwasher, or whatever, nobody would be giving this 'N'-word the stinken time of day, right?

Perhaps this player, a grown man, should have been more sympathetic and understanding to someone who's just a little boy. But even famous people are human, and can get overwhelmed by the hypocrisy of it all.

Black or white, but in the case of this baseball legend, let's keep this in mind == the sad and sorry fact is the further back we go, the more racism there was, especially in the south where this player was born and raised, Mobile, Alabama, and the team he played for for 21 years was in the south.

Black or white, flipping the bird to a little kid is a symptom that manifests from the vindictive, sewer-engulfed hearts so blindly and so stupidly spreading hatred and injustices onto others -- oh, except if you're famous, and/or we can somehow derive benefit from you.
