I enjoy Elvis a great deal. I love his music from the late 60s to the end of his life. I have a double album of gospel music which is awesome and, in my view, places him highly among Gospel singers. I also adore the Memphis Record, which most regard as an 'album' though it's really a compilation culled culled from a couple of albums and some singles. I'm sure you all know it: Mama Loved The Roses, In The Ghetto, Kentucky Rain, Gentle On My Mind, Suspicious Minds. It's hurtin' stuff, soulful at times, bluesy, and just powerful.
To be honest, I rarely choose ti listen to any Rock n' Roll from the 1950s. I know its a time when some very influential people were doing their thing, but it just doesn't resonate with me and I have too many other things to listen to. I do listen to other 50s recordings including Sinatra and his colleagues, and also some classical recordings of that period.
I rate the Doors high, just not in the top 5 and frankly probably not in the top 10. But they are still great and have some timeless songs I'll always be into hearing.
