RE: Correction!!!

Shattered, the album you are talking about is "Sinatra at the Sands" from 1966. Its a great live album, and yes, I recall Sinatra's remark about his dear friend Sammy. Many people forget but Frank at one point told casino owners that he would not perform for them unless they treated Sammy Davis Jr like everyone else and give him the same respect and attention that a white artist would receive.

Sinatra did work with the great Duke Ellington. They have an album together called Francis A. & Edward K. Its absolutely glorious. In addition to Basie and Ellington, Sinatra worked with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Quincy Jones, Nelson Riddle Axl Stordahl, Don Costa, and the list goes on forever.

The album of John McLaughlan and Al Di Meola is called Friday Night In San Fransisco. Its a live recording with some very nice laid back guitar.

There is just so much great and interesting stuff in the world of Jazz Fusion. Its a genre that really gets going in the late 1960s and is still going how, with tons of great things happening in the 1970s. I feel no need to get into the early pioneers of Jazz as I can just keep checking out more of these latter day trail blazers and innovators. I may dig into the vaults of Jazz one day, but no need now. All of the artists we've talked about have made me check out other artists too, like Herbie Hancock, Alphonse Mouzon, Sun Ra, and many others.

Back to an earlier point you made, and one in which you find yourself in good and populous company -- Mick Taylor is awesome. In my mind he elevated the Stones, and they elevated him. His time in the band is their greatest era. Its always so hard to declare such a thing as we can point to absolute gems in all eras of the band, but the MT era is just a perfect time for the Stones where they couldn't make a bad album if they tried.
