Interesting read there. I was under the impression that Perry still played at the very beginning of the song, but it appears that wasn't him and he more then likely doesn't play at all on the song.
But those 2 guys showed up on so many cool songs with great riffs. They both filled in on lead guitar for Glen Baxton on Alice Cooper's "Billion Dollar Babies" song, back when Baxton was first starting to get too sick to play, it's amazing that he even lived as long as he did. Then if you ever heard what I call one of the greatest live albums ever made, Lou Reed's Rock 'n' Roll Animal, they were Lou's 2 lead guitarists. The live take of "Intro/Sweet Jane" which still gets played a lot on the radio to this day, with them 2 trading off on lead, is pure magic, to say the least, thanks to their guitars! Damn I wish I could have been there that nite for that show!
