RE: major league baseball? nsc

I was a big time baseball fan as a child, was a catcher in little league and was very good at playing the game in my youth. I was the first 10 year old to hit a home run out to centerfield, something they didn't think any preteen kid could ever do. I also went to lots of Mets games at the old Shea Stadium, and even saw them play in '62 and '63 at the old Polo Grounds (where the NY Giants played before moving to SF in the late '50s). My first game was in the late 1950s at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn with the Brooklyn Dodgers, but I don't remember it as I was too small.

Then when the Rockies came in existence in the early 1990s, I was at Mile Hile Stadium for their very first game that set a major league record for attendance, that first year they averaged well over 55,00 people a game, something no other club has ever come close to, other than they almost matched that in their second year playing both seasons at the old and now torn down Mile High Stadium. Then they moved into the new Coors Fields in their third year and the place only held 50,000 people, and sold out most of those games, again something never seen in baseball before.

But Denver is still a football town first, and the Broncos hold the all time record for consecutive sellouts by any pro team, it goes all the way back to the late 1960s if I recall correctly. Just about everybody who lives in the state of Colorado loves the Broncos, other than the exception being Gasland's Jimmy Joe.

I love football more today than baseball for the same reason you no longer care for baseball manny. It puts me to sleep since it's so damn slow. I can no longer watch it on TV, but going out to the ballpark would still be fun if I didn't live almost 4 hours away from Denver. So I stopped going 16 years ago when I move to where I now live. I feel bad that I never got to take my grandson Coop to a game, but he isn't a baseball fan anyway. He doesn't watch any sports at all - even his beloved basketball, which he only loves to play (every day it seems) but he never watches the NBA, even though he can tell you anything you need to know about the NBA, as he reads up on it. I used to like basketball a lot until the last few years when I gave up on it (other than my kid's high school games which I go to and enjoy watching him play), just like I gave up on baseball. So it's just pro football that I watch today, and hey, the preseason starts up this Saturday Night!.... can't wait! Yep, I even watch preseason football, I just love the NFL and Saturday night can't get here fast enough!!
