RE: music our lives,,,ssc

Manny, you sound just like the average guy, and IMO, there's nothing wrong with you or in being that way, unless you don't like being average. I always talk about not being average, but deep down I am, even if in some ways I'm not. The thing I find in my older age (mid 60s) is overall, I just don't care anymore about most things. At this point whatever happens, happens. I tried to fight against the government for years, really since I was about 16 or so, but after Trump stole the last election I finally gave up. It's like, what's the use? Yeah I'll still vote, sign petitions, and write my congressperson, but I don't worry too much about the outcomes anymore since it's clear that most things involving politics are rigged. The old saying that you can't fight city hall is so true.

I also sleep very little the older I get, 4 to 5 hours a nite is normal for me, that's it. Plus I'm not gonna worry about it, either. If I was feeling tired all day maybe I would sleep more, or worry about it, but that isn't the case at all.

As far as close friends and relatives dying, manny at your age, you got to get used to it, since once you get older it becomes a more common thing in life - until your turn comes around, then you won't have to go to any of those anymore. I recall when my mom was in her mid 70s, she noted to me that the only places she and my dad ever went to anymore were funerals. But that just means 2 things to me, that you had a lot of friends in your life, and you somehow outlived them all (2 good things I guess).

It's funny how sometimes you don't notice things that are happening to you until they are pointed out to you by loved ones and then you realize they are all true. My grandson said to me just the other day: "Gramps, I noticed of late that you never listen to music anymore, you just sit at the computer in silence these days". He then also noted that I don't smoke weed anymore either. That got me thinking that there must be a connection to the 2. But the truth is, I still do smoke weed 6 days a week, I just stopped smoking at nite and now only do so during the day (when the kid isn't around) and truly only do so for medical reasons - and not to get high. You know you are getting old when something like that becomes a fact.

But why do I really not listen to a lot of music anymore? I don't know for sure, as when I do play my music I still enjoy it. I played GHS this afternoon and it was so wonderful to hear! What a great LP! But I've always been a lazy listener, I usually would just put on the radio and let whatever is playing on there be what I listen to all day. But after several years, I finally grew tired of the terrible music programing on SirsusXM to where I only put it on once a week now - so I don't have to hear the same exact music being played every single day. Then once a week I put on my bluetooth speakers and listen to it for the entire day, usually listening to the Stones station for a few hours (thanks again Manny for turning me to that station!), the Beatles station for a few more hours, and I've found that Pandora's Monkees station has perhaps the best blend of music around, so I'll listen to that station for the rest of the day. But one day of the week is it for playing my Bluetooth, another day a week listening to the radio, and that's it other than listening to YouTube on autoplay... Plus yes, tonight I'm straight as an arrow and typing this out in silence. Does that mean something negative? Do I really need weed to get me to listen to music? I sure hope not! But I guess that brings me to repeat what I opened this reply post up with.... I just don't care anymore... I can sit here in silence at almost 4am in the morning and I'm just fine with that, Ronnie!
