Pretty much the same story here Keno. Heard The Rolling Stones shortly after I was smitten, utterly SMITTEN, by Beatlemania. Was a huge fan ever since. It's scary to think what kind of life I would have had if it wasn't for The Rolling Stones.
First in the USA to play The Beatles?
The way I understood it, some obscure radio station somewhere played "Please Please Me" very late one night, one time, when it was #1 in the U.K. so that would be May of 1963. -- Nobody seemed interested, they weren't played again.
Now where did I hear that? I think it was from Bob Mathers who hosted a weekly Top 40 countdown show, Ultimate Oldies Countdown, a very excellent show where Mathers gave lots of info, just like the legendary CASEY KASEM. But let's keep in mind -- Bob Mathers, just like Casey, made a blunder or two.
There are a few different answers to the question of who played The Beatles first. Here's one article from 4½ years ago.
And speaking of WABC radio, it was Scott Muni who introduced New Yorkers to The Beatles.
