Shattered raises some good questions. I do not know how Billboard or these other rating groups reach their conclusions. Do they account for inflation? Population? Other factors? When we take these things into account Star Wars (1977) is a bigger deal than any movie of the last 40 years.
It is indeed a joke. Does Drake have talent? Again, I would not know as I have listened to a cumulative total of 45 seconds of his music.
The real test, in my mind, is the question of whether or not his music will be widely played and enjoyed in the year 2068. I listen to Sgt Pepper's, The White Album, Revolver, Goats Head Soup, Sticky Fingers, and Let It Bleed and they are as fresh and enjoyable as they were to the ears of those who had the privilege of hearing them for the first time. Same goes for every Sinatra album, tons of classical music, and tons of rock and pop of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
But I just can't envision a site like this in 2068 where people are sitting around debating and discussing Drake's albums (not to mention discussing lots of non-Drake topics like Football, geopolitics, and how President Ivanka Trump is doing) Nope... just can't see that happening.
