Wow! Good for you.
Back in 1980, when I worked just around the corner from Madison Square Garden, I heard on the radio that Yes was going to be at MSG.
So during my lunchbreak I walked the few steps and purchased 4 great seats, since tickets had just gone on sale.
So what happens? Soon after, I read in the paper that both Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman just quit the band. Well WTF? The concert wasn't that far off, and I thought how in the world are they going to recruit two replacements, including the lead singer who has to learn all the words, record a whole new album, and rehearse for that coming tour, in such a short time? How good could Yes be in concert with all that going on? Without JA and RW?
So, I sold my four great seats.
The new album would eventually be 'Drama'. I heard nothing but good reviews for the shows, so I kinda regretted selling the tickets.
The first hour of that MSG show was supposed to be broadcast live over radio station WNEW-FM, and I had my taping equipment ready, but there were so many technical difficulties and could not happen. 😿
"Going For the One" (1977) is a huge favorite of mine. Their next one, "Tormato" (1978) got some rather unfair reviews. I dug it.
