RE: R.I.P. Anthony Bourdain (nsc)

There is really no major problem here with the 2 posts made about the same time.

Some here were asking about Kate Spade the other day and who was she. When I saw the headlines for this guy's passing this morning I had to ask the same thing for him, as I don't recall knowing anything about him, and I'm a chef myself. Yet I never watch any cooking shows like that at all, other than when I was a boy I watched Julia Child all the time, and I recall my dad saying to me once that it was weird me watching her show all the time. I never understood why he felt that way, I just started to like cooking around the age of 10 or so and never stopped liked cooking once my mom let me help out in the kitchen. Yet as an adult who continued to be into cooking, I never watch any of those shows anymore. I do have a few cookbooks, but I've had the same cookbooks for years now. Got one real good, thick cook book about 25 years ago as a gift that I use today 90% of the time when I need such a book; it's just filled with every recipe that anybody could use and once I got this book, I never needed another one and rarely ever look at my other cookbooks anymore.

But really, I had no clue who this Anthony Bourdain was. They say he was 61, so he's younger than me, yet he looks a good 10 to 15 years older than I. I guess he did lead a hard life for sure, but then again, I did too in my younger years. I just never made the mistake of doing H, even if I did abuse other drugs. Heroin will do that to you. I ran into this guy in a store the other day, and he says to me "Hey Keno, how are you?", and I didn't have a clue who he was at first sight. He saw I didn't recognize him, so he told me who he was. I hadn't seen him in 10 years. Turned out he was my oldest daughters' brother in law, who had moved away after starting to do H, and deserted his wife and 2 babies. He was only around 21 years old when he left and looked 18 at the time. So he just got back in town, yet he looks like he's 40 years old now and is as skinny as a stick. He looks like he has cancer, but it's just a decade of heavy heroin use. I thought to myself later, that his kids are better off with him not being around than his being here now (made me think of the song "Sam Stone" and daddy having a hole in his arm and his kids know it). Having a junkie dad isn't a good thing at all, especially with him around them now. I just hope their mother keeps him away from them, since they are 2 good kids and they don't need him in their lives at this point. Well, not unless he gets himself into rehab and cleans himself up.

But few heroin addicts live to be old men. Gotta wonder if Bourdain was still a former H addict, or maybe he was back on the junk and just OD'd by accident? I mean, why would he kill himself while on a working holiday in France?
