RE: RE: RE: Say it ain't so Morgan Freeman! (LSC)

All so very true gomper. But the bottom line was nobody came forward at first in all lines of sexual abuse and that slowly started to changed in the early 70s and it has taken this long for it to reach these woman in Hollywood last.

Really, other than murder cases, and drugs, which always had the attention of the police, most of this other stuff was sweep under the rug. Organized crime was even that way, as the mob was allowed to do their thing pretty much in the open until the early '80s.

I recall reading in the newspaper in the '70s for the first time about sexual abuse of children when a big ring of pronorgaphers got busted for the first time, and it was as if this was a new thing happening when it wasn't at all. But because it was never reported before, I recall the NYC newspapers actually had to explain in their news stories what the word "pedofile" meant, since it was never used before that one big bust. Then the word started to be used regularly, as people weren't afraid to talk about it anymore and people were finally getting busted regularly for it.

But I can recall in NYC, especially on west 42 street which for years was the street of all and any kinds of sick sex, and it all was happening in the open. You could walk into these stores and find child porn along with all other kinds of sick porn being sold in the open, with these dirty mags on display for sale right on the shelves for all to see and for the sick to buy. Plus all kinds of prostitution was going on in the open right out on the street. I had noted here in the past that the first time I ever saw full nude pictures of people, was when I was around 4 years old or so, and I was just walking down that dirty street with my aunt when we were on our way somewhere else. But they had these blown up nude photos in the windows of all of these shops, and that kind of stuff was allowed to stay up for years on that street. But after one or 2 of those first busts, it was like a groundswell, just like we are seeing now with these woman coming out with these new charges all at once, and within 2 to 4 years or so, all of the illegal things being sold in those dirty bookstores, along with the live sex shows, and triple X rated movies houses on 42nd street, were closed down and all removed, and within 10 years or so, the place was totally changed to where none of that existed in the open anymore. Today you can walk with your kids down that street and it's 100% safe.... But you can take the Stones song "Till the Next Goodbye" as an example of this change. That tune was written in 1973, and the one line in the song that told you early on just how bad off things were for this gal who the song is about, was. Yet today that lyric don't mean anything at all and is lost on the listener. But back in the early '70s, everybody knew what this lyric really meant and what kind of person this gal was: "In a movie house on Forty-Second Street, ain't a very lovely place for you and I to meet". To today's younger generation, that's just another lyric that means nothing at all and is overlooked, but back in the early '70s, it told you exactly who this woman was, what she was doing and what he was looking for. But back then, unless you were just passing through, as many had to to get to wherever they were going, people who actually hung out on that street all day, were either drug dealers, drug users, or in the sex business. Period. There was no other reason why you would hang out on that street before the mid '70s.

So what we are seeing today is the last of what should have been stopped decades ago. Why did it take so long, who knows, other than today as older woman, many of these people only now feel safe to talk about it. I'm willing to bet we are at the peak of this (and who knows for how much longer it will go on), and unlike something like some of these other things that won't ever go away, perhaps this kind of thing will. At least as far as people like Weinstein. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying perverts like him won't stop being perverts anymore, but they will do it in a different matter and nowhere as many young women aren't going to get hurt anymore in exchange for fame. But still, since some people are born perverts, that won't and can't totally change or totally go away (and yes, some are born this way, just like some are born gay, while most are born straight, some are born perverted, too). But the more that most of it is sweep underground and out of the open, less will occur, but even 50 to 100 years from now there will still be perverts and victims, as it's a thing that can't ever go away 100%.
