LOL! I never heard that one before... but... perhaps you never heard this one, and if you weren't of age yet in say, before 1980, then perhaps not, but most - or at least many Beatles fans including myself, believed that 'norwegian wood' was a slang word that the Beatles used for marijuana, and what John was talking about with that lyric, was that he lit up a joint that tasted real good! I took it for that up until about 20 years ago, when we started to learn that most of the weed references in Beatles songs weren't really weed references at all, while some that really were - like "Got To Get You Into my Life", nobody knew - not until Paul flat out said it was. So I just figured NW must not have been John talking about smoking a joint either, but then again, Paul didn't say it wasn't, he just said it wasn't about burning down the gal's house. But yes, many people believed that for years, and I just never understood why.
