I think it if forgotten sometimes just how big and famous they were back in the 60s. They were simply HUGE, I would even say bigger than the biggest stars you could think of today, like Taylor Swift or Kanye West. And since they got used to being so famous so long ago and since they have been continuing a lot the past few years with reissues, products, museum exhibits and tours, their existence is totally different and shaped by so many years of fame that I just don't think they "just like us," not one bit. It's not just money, it is power, influence, and connections to all kinds of other important, powerful, famous and rich people all over. That is what really shapes them and makes them different.
As far as Facebook goes, it is the devil and indeed very responsible for the '16 election, plus more. This article is fantastic and to me required reading, and whatever you might think about Rolling Stone, Matt Taibbi has proven himself and is legit:
