Lennon retired from music in 1975 and for around 5 full years he barely appeared in public and seldom gave interviews yet in 1980 at the time of his death he was arguably the most famious guy in the world outside of world leaders or muhammed ali perhaps? He certainly had his detractors because of his outspokeness and political views and religious views.But i dont think many people doubted his abilities in the music field.In many areas of music he was way ahead of his time.
