I was thinking about rock and rock related music since the Beatles hit the scene in the sixties. If you add up the quality acts from the US and UK from the sixties until the present which place has produced the best quality acts and music? I would think that after it's been acknowledged that everything the British acts built on was American from Jazz to Blues and from Muddy Waters to Elvis, the Brits are really quite a bit ahead. I am referring here to the music since the sixties. For the Brits we have the Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, the Who, the Kinks, Animals, Yardbirds, Moody Blues, Black Sabbath, Dave Clark 5, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac T. Rex, Sex Pistols and a host of high quality smaller artists and bands.
Dylan and the Doors were great, but I don't think the US can match this.
