When I was a teen, the drinking age in most states was 18, but 21 in others. In New Jersey, next door to NYC, it was 21, and on weekends they had 18 year olds kids from Jersey (who went into the city to drink) driving home over the bridgers and thru the tunnels drunk, and the Jersey police would have a field day in arresting them, but more got away than got caught. But in liberal NY, they didn't card anybody back then, and I got into bars regularly at 17, and I looked no more than 16 when I was that age. That was the only real time in my life when I had a true drinking problem. 18 is too young to be allowed to drink, like I already noted in this thread above, the legal age for everything should be 20.
