First, before I answer JF's questions.... I should note that I had to post the above reply from JF, for him (he sent it to me via email), as the board is on its final legs, as is the server it is on. I'm not sure which one will die first. Both should be replaced by next week, and I believe all of you will love the new board. Well I hope you will. Everybody may or may not need a new password to go with it, I'm still not sure on that, but it will be a blast to have here and worth whatever is needed by us to use it.
But as it is right now with this current board, some of the Gassers can't post at all - ever, and that's the case with Jaded Faded, none of his posts or replies show. I guess it depends on the browser you use, but for me, half of my posts aren't showing, and this is why we now are seeing so few pots here. As it was, last week we saw the fewest posts made here in the 19 years that we been around, and it was directly because of this broken down board. So if you are one of the Gassers who can't post right now, please hang in there. The new board should have been done by now, but as I noted here already, what was first gonna be used I rejected, as I don't wish to have the new board where everybody would have to be monitored, when only a few posters need to be. That was half of the problem, the other problem was where it has to be easy to post links and photos here on the new board, and it will be, and that wasn't addressed, nor was the password issue. I'm hoping new passwords won't be needed, as it's not only a minor pain in the ass on the Gassers end, but a total and even larger pain in the ass on my end. So again, that stuff is being worked on.
Not only will we get a new board, but the domain will see a brand new polling system, too! The polls, which work fine for the most part, only have one controllable issue at the moment. But that one problem could grow to become out of hand, and being that they would become the only ASP program left on the domain after the new board starts up, well, ASP is rarely used these days and they ready need to be replaced. So after the work on the new board is finish, the polls will be worked on next. But just one program at a time will be worked on, and the board needed working on ASAP, as it is dying and on its last legs.
As far as the server, I don't own that, my host does, and they will have the entire domain moved one day next week. To be honest, I think they are just waiting for the new board to be ready to go and then they will move the domain to a new server. They have put a temp fix in to where if the board or domain goes offline again (the other reason for a lack of posts), they will know the minute it does, and they will get it back up in seconds when that happens again. But with that all noted, I'm hoping that by this time next week, all will be fine here again.
