Neil Peart, perhaps combined, the greatest songwriter who was a great drummer, too? There weren't ever too many drummers who wrote songs, and yet Peart wrote a lot of hits for Rush while being a hard hitting drummer at the same time. Most of the drummers who wrote a lot of songs were not that great drummers, and for sure they weren't heavy hitters (think Phil Collins, and Don Henley, both okay drummers, but nothing special, and known more for their singing and songwriting than for their drumming).
