RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Brian's leaving the group

MT had very little to do with this song, and that story is flat out incorrect and I've only heard it in the last few years. More than likely it was made up by a fan online is my guess. For that matter, who knows if the BJ story is correct or not too, as far as how much he played on the song goes. But I did hear the interview (I have it on an on boot tape) where his father flat out said Brian played the guitar riff to the song for him weeks before it was ever recorded. That BBC radio with Mr Jones interview was made months after Brian's death... Yet still other claim Keith came up with the riff. But with MT and his role in the song, it is pretty much accepted that he had very little to do with it - other than it was the first Stones song that he played on and where Stones fans got to ever hear him play. He recorded his part months after the song was finished and in the can (the can was reopened for him) - on the very same day that Charlie and the Glimmers met BJ at his home to end his role in the group. MT was alone in the studio on this day, no other band members were present, and he was told by Glyn Johns (who was told by the Glimmers beforehand) where to add in his rhythm guitar parts. He had no hand at all in writing the song. His parts were added in to what was really a finished product, while Brian's guitar parts were then either all removed, or more likely most of his parts were removed. My guess is that the song today still has some of what BJ played in there and not all of his parts were removed, but officially all of it was. The Stones felt they had to say that after the song's release, since they wanted it known that their new band member was playing on the new single, and they didn't want to have to say that BJ was anywhere on the song. The single was by chance released on the very same day that BJ was killed.
