RE: oldies n falls style...ssc

There is nothing like having a great station to listen to over the radio. I've noted before here that because of the 13 to 14,000+ foot high mountains around us, we can't get any over the air radios stations here* because the signals are blocked, even with most of the stations being only about 50 miles away, with one, a National Public Radio (NPR) station is actually only about 15 miles away to our east, but the highest mountains here are directly in the way of the town where it broadcasts from (which is the closest town to us), so we can't pick up that station at all (and if we want to drive to this town that's so close as the crow flies, it takes over 2 hours to get there, thanks to the same mountains).

*Now there's 2 exceptions to all this. We actually have a transmitter in town that broadcasters radio station KRCC out of Colorado Sps here. They are another NPR station that is a part of Colorado College in C Spgs, which is a small liberal arts college, and they have a satellite campus here in our town that offers their students retreats. Like all NPR stations, you get a bit of everything from this station including sometimes rock music, and back in the late '80s I even deejayed for them for several months..... (the 2nd station we can only half get, is a country station that broadcasts from our south).

As far as FT rock stations near here, if you drive just 7 or 8 minutes to the west of town, you exit the mountains/foothills and enter the highest/largest alpine valley on Earth, and just like that, you instantly pick up several stations, including 2 not so bad rock stations. One, the River Rat, plays Classic Rock and is not so bad for that kind of station, I'd say it's a cut above other same kind of rock stations. Then we also have Hippie Radio, and they play oldies from the '60s and '70s, and I play this one the most when I'm out driving.

So that's it for where I live with over the air radio (BTW we have zero over the air TV stations here). Thank goodness for internet and satellite stations, and also that Hippie Radio also can be heard on the internet, too, here.
