"John Barleycorn Must Die" (1970) is in my Top-Ten albums of all time.
Traffic had actually ceased operations. Their last album in fact was titled "Last Exit" (1969), signifying the end of Traffic.
JBMD was supposed to be a Winwood solo album, his first. But while working on it he asked Jim Capoldi to come and help out, then after a while they asked Chris Wood to come and help out.
When the solo album was finished SW said something like, "Gentleman, this is a TRAFFIC album!"
Only the three of them are on it.
Traffic was revived!!
I'm pretty sure I got that story from a disc-jockey who hosted an absolutely terrific Sunday morning 3-hour show called "Psychedelic Sunday", from Connecticut station WPLR 99.1 that we can pick-up here on Long Island. Mike Lapotino was the DJ's name. He was like THE voice of that station.
I'm pretty sure that's where I heard that.
