He did indeed replace Wyman, no doubt about that. So he really seemed like he was continuing through that lineage. And I do recall where it really seemed for a moment like they were presenting him as the new Rolling Stone bassist. But for some reason - perhaps purely a business related reason or maybe branding - they didn't want him as a Stone. One could argue that in the post Whyman era, Darryl contributes as much as Wood.
