What happens when one of them can't continue?

These are probably questions that the Stones themselves and their fan community will inevitable have to deal with.

Countless bands have gone through many significant line-up changes. With the Stones, you've lost Brian Jones and then also had one position change after that. Unlike other major bands that have changed lead singers and had other key people replaced.

Continuing on after the loss of an original member would be a decision for the surviving members alone. They could call themselves whatever they wanted and we'd have to take it or leave it.

About Darryl Jones... I seem to recall seeing a news article when he he came along after Wyman's departure, and it really looked like he was presented as a 'new member' just like Ron Wood was in the 70s. But that may have been a writer misrepresenting things. And of course, in the years following Jones never held that status or had any business interest in the Stones beyond being a hired hand. Had Wyman left in 1985 or thereabouts, it may have been different.
