I think you are thinking too deeply. Mick and Keith seem to write according to their experiences. I don't think they actively stay within a framework. When they were young and wild they wrote about sex and drugs and debauchery that was all around them. They had plenty of material! When there was war they wrote about war and politics. My opinion is that whatever is happening around them at a particular time... well, that becomes a song. Maybe as they aged, that wild life slowed down a lot and the material became a little more scarce. "Are you coloring your hair with a new kind of dye?" Would these be lyrics during the the hey day of the Stones?
