You don't believe that ridiculous story, do you? Since Keith stated it, besides Muddy, all of the other Stones said it wasn't so (other than Brian, since he had died before Keith stated this). Plus Marshall Chess, who was there that day at his father's studio, flat out said it wasn't so, as did producer Norman Dayron who was also there that day.
I did try doing a fast Google search, and I found only a few things, like what Chess said, but I don't have the time to look anymore, so go and do a search and you will find out what you are asking me about.... But I did just copy directly what Chess had to say about this in a interview:
JW: One of the most famous stories told about Chess is Keith Richardsí tale about turning up at the studio in 1964 to record The Rolling Stonesí second album only to find Muddy Waters painting the ceiling. Itís not true, is it?
MC: No truth in it at all. But Keith maintains to this day that it actually happened. Iíve laughed in his face many times as heís insisted he saw Muddy up a ladder with a paint brush in hand. I guess people want to believe that itís true.
