Huge body of work, all over the place, but great

I like Zappa. I have a few of his CDs, including the one with the sofa floating in outer space, which is great. I also have Frank Zappa live with the LSO which is bizarre. He really did do a lot of fantastic things. I am not sure what genre he is in, or how to describe him. He is a bit like the avant-garde classical composers of the early to mid 20th century, such as Xenais, Stockhausen, or John Cage. No everyone gets him, but for those who do he's pretty awesome.
