RE: RE: a son younger than his great-grandchild

Mick has always seemed to be a great dad to his kids, so I don't think that's an issue at all. The problem is his age, and that could be a giant problem - not so much for him, but for his children being born today.

Although it isn't as likely for a man over 60 to have children, it can and does happen, even to men as old as MJ. Old men have much lower sperm counts than younger men, but their bodies still produce some sperm into old age and up to the day they die. The biggest problem (and it's a proven fact) that men older than 60 have, is that it's more likely that they will produce unhealthy kids with different health problems, with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder being the 2 biggest problems to occur in their children. The other problem for the children of fathers in their 70s, is that it's likely they will lose their fathers before they finish growing up - in most cases, plus in many cases even before they reach their teens. The average man dies between 76 and 82 years of age, so if you have a child at 73 like MJ did, or you have twins at 69 like Ronnie did, well, just do the math, odds are against those children having their dads around by the time they turn 20.... I think a lot of us expect Mick to live into his 90s since he's in such good shape, but it's unlikely for most men to live that long, and that's the bottom line, nobody lives forever and most men (and woman) never see age 90.

The other thing to note about older men and their sperm count is that it has nothing to do with their sex drive. Older men who are more sexually active would be more likely to have children in their later years than others their age - but for that reason only, since the more times you have unproductive sex, well, you know how that works. Making babies in old age also may or may not have anything to do with the man's health, as that depends on what health issues the old man has. Take Ronnie and his wife having twins last year with Ronnie being age 69 and in poor health. His health problems are related to his lungs only (as far as we know), and bad lungs have no effect on a man's sperm count.
