JF, I'll say it again: you had to be there to get a grip on the whole thing to understand it. Reading about it is one thing; you get one person's account on it. That person might have liked Freddie and the Dreamers (who the Beatles opened for on one tour, as per Paul) better than any other group. That doesn't take away from the Fabs just because one person didn't like them as much. It was a magical time to be a teenager if one liked music as much as most did.

I had a history teacher who said that a person from the South and a person from the north could each write a book about a particular battle from the Civil War (or the whole war for that matter), and although we know the outcome of it all, the authors could each put their spin on it to make the rebs or the blue bellies come out looking like the real heroes of that particular clash. I believe this to be true of the history of rock during the time frame we're discussing.

If you want to check out a true pioneer of rock n roll, read up on Buddy Holly. His accomplishments were as important back then as the Beatles' accomplishments. That's not to say he was better than them, not at all. But check him out. Pretty amazing stuff he did for rock.

Enough rambling for now.
