RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE:the bottom line is....

It absolutely isn't a crime, but you are without doubt at odds with the men who wrote 'I Wanna Be Your Man' which is the song over which we have disagreement. What anybody thought or didn't think about 'Satisfaction' is beside the point, it's the facts around 'I Wanna Be Your Man', and what Lennon and McCartney thought about it, and what their intention for it was, that is being disputed.

Again, it matters not a jot to that argument if Lennon and McCartney's judgement proved to be wrong on this that or the next song. They gave away many songs that they wrote but didn't fancy, which become hits. They passed on releasing one song that became a number one for somebody else. So it could be argued that their judgement was poor many times as far as songs were concerned (I wouldn't argue it). However it's not their judgement we have been debating, it's what they thought of 'I Wanna Be Your Man', and what their original intention for it was. If a debate like this is to be meaningful it has to remain focused.

The gist of the argument is, I said that Lennon and McCartney gave the Stones a 'Ringo' song, and that that basically summed up what they thought of the song, and why the Stones got it i.e. they weren't going to give the Stones something they themselves had big plans for. Quoting the relevant parts of your replies to that position you said;.... "No it wasn't, it only "became" a Ringo song after the Stones had a hit with it, the song was written for the Stones first"...... You also said "They only gave it to Ringo to sing because the Stones already made the song their own with their cover"(sic).......Finally you said " But the Stones did record it first, and it became a "Ringo" Beatles song only because of that fact".

So those are the relevant parts of quotes you made in reply to my contention that Lennon and McCartney gave the Stones a 'Ringo' song. I provided McCartney quotes (named the book they came from and gave you the page numbers), that are completely at odds with what you have claimed. I'm still unclear, are you disputing McCartney's account?

As far as the part of my argument that Lennon and McCartney gave the Stones a song that they didn't have big plans for, and they were not going to give the Stones anything that they thought they could really do something with for themselves. You disagreed so I provided you with a sourced Lennon quote that supported my claim.

It may be that Lennon was totally wrong on 'I Wanna Be Your Man' (Not for me he wasn't), but it's irrelevant to the argument we are having, it was what he thought i.e. it was 'Throwaway', not something he had any great plans for, it's why the Stones got it.

These McCartney quotes and the Lennon one are the only quotes I know of that they made on 'I Wanna Be Your Man'. If you can provide any quotes by them on the song that contradict the ones I have provided, then they would be interesting to see. Otherwise it's not really of much use or helpful to say "Lennon was known to say things he didn't really mean, too". It would be too easy for anyone in any future debate on Lennon to say "Ah but Lennon was known to say things he didn't mean", as if that automatically negates the other persons argument. If you have a quote or anything that would support the view that Lennon didn't mean what he said about 'I Wanna Be Your Man', then that's a different story. Otherwise the fact that Lennon was known to say things he didn't mean, means nothing here.
