RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: sc

I don't quite know what you mean by "parroting"

I never said you were and I didn't use that word, since to me it doesn't apply here, since I don't know how you could have read or heard that somewhere else, since I don't know of anybody else but you who ever make such a comment like that on this. Really, you are the first person that I ever heard say that. There shouldn't even be a debate on this, and if you were around in the '60s, then we would not even be talking about this now.

but I will insist that although I wasn't around for Beatlemania I do have some benefit in coming around to the entire 60s objectively,

I think maybe you are misreading what we wrote about your not being around. It wasn't meant as a put down in anyway, but that the fact was, it was a time like no other, and that kind of thing will never happen again, and if you were't born yet, it isn't a put down of you, it's just a fact that unless you were there, you can read all the books you want to read on this, but it won't cover the fact that you were there firsthand to experience it and see what really happened. There is so much more to this than the Stones being #2 because of what was going down, and there was nothing ever even close to what took place with the Beatles in the 1960s - nothing. If you weren't there, well that's not your fault, since you weren't born yet, but again, if you had been born and been of age, we won't be debating this, since you would know what all people who were around back then knew on this subject matter.

Just how much bigger were the Beatles compared to the Stones in the early to mid 60s? It would be like comparing the weight of a elephant to the weight of a ant. It wasn't even that close. But I'll say that it's good to look into this with a bright light like you are doing, since the Stones were light years better than the #3 band at the time, as the Stones were a big deal in the '60s too, they just were not the Beatles, nor were they even close to being the #1 band at the time.

...reading what people (musicians themselves) said about it both while it was happening and then again in the following decades.

You read something by a musician who was around in the '60s, who felt the Stones were #1 and ahead of the Beatles in the '60s? Who? I find that hard to believe. Maybe you didn't mean it in that way and you meant something else? But again, I don't think anybody who was alive and old enough to understand music, would have said that, but then again, nothing is 100% when it comes to people and what they think. So maybe there is one person out there out of the millions of people, who could have felt that way. I mean, 98% of all scientists today believe climate change is real, and yet 2% don't. So if there are real mad scientists out there like this, then I would guess that that many rock fans who were alive in the '60s could think the Stones were #1... but I really find that hard to believe, it more than likely is less than 1%, after all, there was some bad acid going around in the '60s that would account for that kind of thinking among those of us who were alive back in the day.

Also, I am able to analyze and combine what I read and hear without my own memories and nostalgia getting in the way and so in some ways you could argue that I have an even better critical understanding of it all.

Again, where did you read this that the Stones were the #1 band in the early to mid '60s, or at any time in the '60s? Again, and I'm not being insulting to you at all here, I do have respect for you and I like you, but there was no way in reading a book, or books, that could replace the knowledge of being alive in the '60s and seeing firsthand what went down and how it went down. That's the bottom line when it comes to the Beatles and Stones in the '60s, you had to be there to see it all unfold. It was a time that can't and never will be repeated, period, and one did have to be there to see it first hand.
