Well my understanding is that it was a song that Lennon and McCartney had already been working on, and finished on the spot when they were told by the Stones that they were short on songs for their next single.....no way was it a great song because if it was a great song then Lennon and McCartney would not have given it to the Stones (As indeed John Lennon implied). As far as Lennon and McCartney were concerned it was a 'Ringo song' (pejorative term), there is strong evidence that that was the case because guess who sang it on the Beatles album?
To repeat what I said above just to emphasise what I said above in case it was misunderstood....'fair play to the Stones that they managed to work up a fairly forgettable piece into something that made it into the top twenty'...that is giving the Stones praise.
Following on from the above; if the Stones had never recorded that Lennon/McCartney song, and it had only appeared on the Beatles album as it did i.e. as a 'Ringo song' would you consider it a 'great song' or 'a fairly forgettable piece'? The correct answer is of course it's 'a fairly forgettable piece'!.......also it was.......wait wait, wait a minute....nice one mate, you had me going there...you're not Keno! I know you're not Keno, because Keno said he would never debate with me again, and Keno is a man of his word....good joke, I hope Keno sees it that way when he turns up, but I think he might not be best pleased that you were using his handle even if it was just a wee prank.....I think you're about to get your arse kicked my friend.
