Indeed that vigil is something. When I went, there was a big push to keep the candle vendors at bay. My hosts, was made up of a hodge podge of a co worker, and all his Elvis cronies. This was pre social media, so the work that went into our gathering must have been substantial. I just followed the pros.
Any way, our group ran a volunteer lighter brigade. There was like a dozen of us armed with butane fire sticks. you know, them wands that are lighters? We lined up on either side of the garden/ grave entrance and lit mourners candles.
I recall going through at least 6 of those lighters. At one point I took a break, and found a vantage point that overlooked the garden and the grave. So many candles!
I didn't get to pay my respects till my chore switched over to trash pick up. gotta tell ya'll, the peacefulness of Graceland after hours/sunrise is AMAZING. About that trash I picked up? Primarily tissues soaked with tears and snot. No snack wrappers, cans or bottles, even cigarette butts. What does that tell you?
