I love all the stuff from the late 60s onward, which, of course, is not a lot. Elvis did not have a huge body of work compared to other greats as he didn't even make it to age 50.
The greatest works of Elvis, in my mind, are contained om a release that most people think of as a studio album. I am referring to The Memphis Record, which I believe is basically a compilation or squishing together of a couple of albums and some singles. Kentucky Rain and Gentle On My Mind are just awesome. Mama Loved the Roses is also beautiful, maybe a trifle corny, but beautiful.
I also love some songs on his later albums. The arrangements and instrumentation is top shelf and Elvis' voice is majestic. These songs seem really forgotten these days.
To be honest, I only occasionally listen to the 50s Elvis and I don't go out of my way to do so.
