RE: RE: RE: RE: NSC stuff

First, thanks for you donation this morning to the board!

It's funny how after 16 years you take things for granted and I have since I've been here for so long now. Remember, I grew up in and around NYC, so I know about city skies, and it's the worst in the world anywhere within 30 or so miles of that giant city. I recall when a meteor showers would happen back there, you could never see anything at all, not one shooting star. Then I moved to Colorado and holy crap, I never realized how many stars there were in the sky, and if you look for them, you will see shooting stars every night! I remember when I lived in Telluride years ago, they also are out there are in the middle of nowhere, so some real nice viewing there too, although that town today is a lot larger than when I lived there. But really, any mountain town in this state, or even the Colorado great plains, are all great places to be to view the nighttime sky. I did live in the Pike's Peak area for 20 years and it wasn't as good there since the big town of Colorado Springs was just to our east, but even there you see more stars than in most big cities.

As far as taking the dog for walls late at night, we don't ever do that. But when the pooch has to go, we got to let him out in the front yard, but as I noted, we first make sure it's all clear before we do. This time of year we can let him out around 7 or 8pm when it isn't totally dark yet and after that he's good for the night, but with it getting dark by 5 pm in the dead of winter, you got no choice. But then again, the bears are sleeping for the entire winter, too, so there's no danger from them from late September till early April. But the lions, foxes, and especially the coyotes are around the entire year, so you always got to be on the lookout for them when out with your dog, even during the day light hours.
