Blues is somewhat similar since solos are typically improvised, but having a steady rhythm makes that genre more palatable to many rock fans.

Delta Blues, yes indeed, no question, but not Chicago Blues. I tried to get into jazz many years ago, it just isn't my cup of tea, too many horns and not enough guitar. Same reason why I'm not into Delta Blues too much, I'll take Chicago Blues minus the horns, which I love, any day over Delta Blues.
