RE: It lives on!!!!!!!!

sounds to me it is a power supply problem.

It was!

This afternoon, well, yesterday afternoon - I'm still on Sunday even if it is officially Monday now... But I got out the old Pioneer SX 750 from storage, plugged it in and tried turning it on for the first time in about 10 years - and it is still working fine. I then went to remove the Yamaha and of course, tried one last time to see if it would turn on, but nothing. So as I was about to start removing everything hooked up to it, I noticed on the 7 outlet power strip it was hooked up to, that I had one unused outlet that the old VHS player used to be plugged into before it died a few years ago. So I figured what the hell, I might as well try plugging it into that extra outlet for the hell of it. I had up to this point already tried unplugging and then replugging in the Yamaha to the same outlet it was already in. But not in a different one on the same powder strip. But as soon as I did this, I heard a click, and on came the Yamaha!!!!

So it wasn't dead after all, only that one outlet on the powder strip was. I had never heard of just one outlet going bad like that. I figured that if one outlet was dead, then all the other outlets would be dead, too, and I already knew that the other outlets were still working since I tested all of them. But only one single outlet on the strip was dead. So I learned something new today, and saved myself around $400, since that's what a compatible new receiver would cost. Now I just have to replace the power strip, since if one outlet is dead, sooner or later the rest will die too, I would think (but at this point, what do I know!). But it sure nice to have my music back on tonight!
